Dr. Markman has been practicing dentistry since 1987. She holds a DDS from New York University and a Master of Science in Periodontology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
She has served on the faculty at New York University and at several international universities. Her research on the use of tetracycline membranes in guided tissue regeneration has been published in the International Journal of Periodontology. Her research on gingival stem cells in periodontal tissue, conducted in the departments of oral microbiology and periodontology was initiated at the University of Zurich, Switzerland.
Dr. Markman's current dental practice, established in the 1970's by the late Dr. Michael Turkewitz, cares for families over multiple generations. Dr. Markman is honored to have worked with "Dr. T" and to have earned his trust. And her team is delighted to continue his wonderful work.
Dr. Markman is thoughtful, thorough and conservative in her approach to patient care. Her objective is to ensure that each patient receives optimal dental care, suited to their needs. Dr. Markman's hygienists not only perform thorough and gentle preventive work, but also assist in diagnosing potential treatment needs in their early stages. An experienced team, led by Dr. Markman, offers patients a full set of alternative treatment plans in order to enable each patient to tailor the results to their preferences.
Dr. Markman speaks English, Portuguese, Spanish and German. She has lived in the USA, UK, Switzerland and Brazil and traveled extensively. She grew up in a family of seven doctors and is passionate about her work. She is an avid sculptor and painter and enjoys learning languages and spending time with her family.

¨ First place in scientific forum at the 15th congress of dentistry in São Paulo for work on “Evaluation of controlled release of chemotherapeutic agent in vitro and in vivo of a biological membrane used in guided tissue regeneration.” 1992
¨ Speaker at various national congresses including presentation on “Clinical and Biological Consequences of Peri-Implantar Infection/Inflammation” at the 1998 Brazilian Academy of Osseointegration Congress in São Paulo.
